Bratislava Train Station
Bratislava Train Station Guide
| Bratislava Hlavná stanica is the main railway station of the Slovak capital and the busiest rail hub in the country. Located in the Staré Mesto district, just a 15-minute walk from the historic Old Town, it serves as the starting point for domestic routes across Slovakia as well as international connections to Vienna, Prague, Budapest, and Warsaw. The station handles dozens of departures daily, including Railjet high-speed services to Vienna Hauptbahnhof (journey time approximately 1 hour) and Eurocity trains to Prague and Budapest. For domestic travel, regular InterCity and regional trains connect Bratislava with Košice, Žilina, Banská Bystrica, and other major Slovak cities.
|
| Bratislava Hlavná stanica is currently undergoing a long-term modernisation programme funded in part by EU infrastructure grants. Planned upgrades include new platform canopies, expanded passenger facilities, and improved accessibility across the entire station complex. In the meantime, the station remains fully operational and continues to be one of the most convenient entry points into Central Europe by rail. |
